It was Thursday morning. We were sitting on the bus, looking out of the window. Parents were raising their hands saying goodbye to their children. This was the day. The day we were waiting for. We were going to Burriana. After an hour on the bus, we realized that the bus had stopped. We had arrived at the place. It was a hotel by the sea which was shaped like a boat! We took our bags and settled into our rooms. We were very happy because we were all sharing a room with our friends. I was in the room with Rafa and Miguel. When we settled in we changed clothes and went to do the first nautical activities.
During the whole stay we were able to do different nautical activities. We were practicing all day from 9 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon. We only stopped for 1 hour for lunch! It was so much fun. While we were doing the kayaking activity, the instructors played games like “Romeo” and “Julieta” or “evolution”. While we were practicing, we were crossing paths with the rest of our companions. Since we were divided into 3 groups and each one was doing a different activity during the two days we did activities such as: sailing, the dragon, kayaking, boat ride, climbing wall … they even gave us a class of knots sailors!
It was a perfect day for the sailing competition. One team against the other. We were nervous, we wanted to win. THREE… TWO… ONE… GO!
Both teams started paddling hard, nothing in the world would have made us stop paddling.
During the first day we had the bad luck that after two activities a heavy rain started. So we could not complete the activity. We thought that we would not be able to have a good time but the monitors had prepared some fun activities for us. In teams we did a gymkhana that kept us entertained for two hours. When it was time for dinner, we were all tired from the whole day but we were happy to be there.
The next day, when we went sailing there was some wind but it didn’t stop us from going out. The wind was in our favor so we overtook our mates in a few minutes.
After this we decided to take a swim all together in the sea. We met up with the other boat and enjoyed the experience together. After all this, it was time to say goodbye to our instructors. They had prepared some sailing diplomas for the classes we had received. We left there very satisfied and happy with the experience. No doubt we would repeat it year after year.
